  1. How much do the Taxi's cost to hire for a Wedding?

The cost of each Taxi varies.. The cost of each Taxi is determined by what the vehicle has to do for your Wedding - click on Quotation, give us the information asked for and we will send a fixed written quotation by e-mail. We will also clearly tell you whether the Taxi's that you are interested in are already booked on the day of your Wedding.

  2. Are there any hidden extras?

No. Provided you tell us all that the Taxi's have to do we will quote accordingly. We include the Uniformed Chauffeur, Ribbons, Silk Flowers on the rear shelf (if required) and an umbrella.

  3. How long do we have the Taxi's for?

The duration of the Wedding or however long that you have prepaid for if paying on an hourly rate. This means that the cars arrive at the place of pick up 15 minutes before the planned leaving time. They then drive to the place of the ceremony and wait whilst the Wedding itself takes place and the photographs are taken. The cars then go on to the reception venue, allowing time for photos to be taken before leaving. If anything in addition to this is required please inform us at the time your quotation is produced and we will quote accordingly. We do not have time restrictions other than your prepaid time limit, and we only provide the cars for one Wedding each day.

  4. How many Taxi's do we need?

Normally two Taxi's are required. The main Bridal Taxi takes Bride & Father to the ceremony, the second Taxi taking the Bridesmaids, pageboys and Brides Mother. When the ceremony and photos are over the main Bridal Taxi then takes the Bride & Groom to the reception whilst the second Taxi takes the Bridesmaids plus the Brides Mother & Father. Sometimes a third Taxi is provided to take the Groom, Best Man and the Grooms Parents. If you have a Taxi for the Groom handcuffs are optional.

  5. We need two Taxi's, possibly three, will they all match?

Yes. We have a second matching Taxi for all our main Bridal Taxi's. With most, but not all, we can provide a third matching Taxi. If you come to see the cars we will advise you which cars are best together.

  6. How many people do the Taxi's take?

Although our Taxi's are classed as 5 seaters it is not practical to have a Bride, wearing a large Wedding Gown, with more than three other people in one car. Most of our Taxi's take five adults, some only take four, although we do have some seven seaters these are of the Metrocab Model.  Legally two children under the age of ten count as one adult.

  7. Can we use one Taxi to first take the Bridesmaids and come back for the Bride?

Our policy is not to advise this normally unless the distance between your home and the church is very short. Your day is very important and we do not like to take a chance of anything going wrong, also if the vehicle undertakes 2 trips to the church we cannot ensure its cleanliness for the Bride.

  8. Do you do more than one Wedding a day with any of the Taxi's?

  Never.

  9. Do you provide the cars for other functions?

Yes, as most of the Taxi's that we use for Weddings are working London Taxi's we can undertake almost any hiring. Including Theatre Trips, Airport Transfers etc.

  10. Do you provide Champagne for us to have in the Taxi?

Yes we can supply champagne and glasses for your Wedding from £30.00. We do not however allow anyone to bring any drinks into the Taxi's other than those supplied by us, most people forget that drinking from a glass in a moving vehicle is very dangerous especially if the vehicle has to brake sharply, for this reason we only use very nice plastic champagne glasses.

  11. Can we smoke in the Taxi's?

Definitely not. Smoking is also not allowed in any of our Taxi's..

  12. Can we view the actual Taxi's?

Yes, a viewing's can be arranged, the best time to view the vehicles is when they are actually undertaking a wedding booking. There you can see exactly what the vehicle looks like when dressed for a wedding. Viewings can also be arranged where the vehicles are kept or sometimes at your home (if within the Central London area).

  13. Do all the Taxi's shown on your website actually belong to you?

In order to present you with this extensive portfolio of vehicles we have gathered together a collection of transport owned not only by ourselves but also by our close friends and colleagues who being fellow classic vehicle enthusiasts and or Taxi Drivers have asked us to act as their agent and market their private collection of cherished independently owned vehicles on their behalf.  We will always endeavour to safeguard those who view this website by instantly removing any independently owned vehicle from our site if we receive more than one valid substantiated complaint about a vehicle or the service provided.  The vehicle owners set the prices that we market their vehicles.  This extensive portfolio presents you with one of the widest ranges of wedding transportation available for wedding hire in London & Kent, with most older Historic, Vintage and Veteran vehicles having been completely restored and refurbished both inside and out. Where Taxis are concerned some of the Taxi's belong to us and the rest belong to owner drivers, most of the drivers are Licensed London Taxi drivers which means that they have undertaken the famous "Knowledge". This enables our drivers to get you around London without having to look at a map or A to Z. The drivers all take special pride in their Taxi's and all very prompt, polite and courteous. They have also had their criminal records checked by the Public Carriage Office to ensure that they are of good character.

  14. How much are the Taxi's worth?

We don't really know. Some of them are very rare, all are in outstanding condition. Our most recent acquisition cost over £38,000

  15. Do all the Taxi's have personalised registrations?

No. Many of them do have personalised registration numbers but some do not.

  16. What do your Chauffeurs wear?

  They are suited and booted..

  17. Are your Chauffeurs actually employed by you?

Yes some are employed by us on a part time weekend basis but most of the drivers are self employed London Taxi drivers.

  18. Do the Chauffeurs do anything other than drive the cars?

Yes. They will open the Taxi doors and help you in and out of the Taxi. Should it rain they will have a large umbrella to keep you as dry as possible. They will take the bouquet as the Bride or Bridesmaids get in or out of the Taxi. They will also assist your photographer to enable the best possible photos of the Taxi's to be taken.

  19. Do your Chauffeurs carry mobile phones?

Yes. But we do not telephone our Chauffeurs unless absolutely necessary while they are undertaking a Wedding. If you need to contact us on  the day of your Wedding please call either 0845 68 68 9332, or Mobile: 07734 490561(Denise) 07734 490560 (Jamie)

  20. Does Jamie ever drive the Taxi's for a Wedding?

Yes, he can sometimes be found behind the wheel of a Taxi undertaking a Wedding booking.

  21. Does Denise ever drive the cars?

No comment. (Jamie) Update, Denise has finally driven one of the Taxi's on a couple of Weddings.

  22. Do you ever book out all your Taxi's in one day?

No. We have our normal Taxi's that we book out on Weddings most Saturdays, but we also have owner drivers that we can call upon in an emergency to undertake a booking or to take over if anything untoward should happen.

  23. Some of your Taxi's are quite old - do they ever break down?

Provided they are correctly and properly maintained (as we ensure with all our Taxi's) old Taxi's are much more reliable than modern Taxi's. They are much simpler with no complicated electronic gadgetry. Our Taxi's are all British and we only have Taxi's for which it is still possible to get spare parts and for which there is expertise reasonably local to us. Should anything untoward happen we always have spare Taxi's.

  24. What tips have you for a succesful Marriage?

Always do what she tells you (Jamie)
Always do what he tells you (Denise)

  25. Are the colours of the cars shown in the photos on your website accurate?

No. The photos used are not taken by a professional photographer - we produced them ourselves using an ordinary camera therefore you cannot use the photos as an exact guide to the colours.

  26. Who are Wedding Taxis?

Wedding Taxi's is a Limited company owned and run by Jamie & Denise Owens

  27. How did Wedding Taxis start and how long have you been going?

We started Wedding Taxi's because of the many requests that we were getting from customers visiting our Taxi website www.london-taxi.co.uk over which we take ordinary Taxi bookings, Jamie was undertaking many Wedding bookings every year with the Taxi being booked on a Wedding almost every Saturday. After a little research we found that there was only one other company (who only offer one type and colour of Taxi and a few individuals offering a service using London style Taxi's and the prospective customer would have to make many calls before finding the model of Taxi that they wanted for their Wedding.

We decided to bring all of these special vehicles together under one roof so that the customer could have a choice of Taxi and one point of contact.

As Jamie had driven Wedding cars in the past for other companies over the last 19 years and enjoyed doing this sort of work and also as Jamie is a Licensed London Taxi driver and a Qualified London Taxi Tour Guide the setting up of Wedding Taxi's just seemed a natural progression.

We have now found that our Wedding bookings far exceed our ordinary bookings, we do not advertise anywhere, all of our bookings come through our website or by word of mouth from one of our very satisfied customers.

  28. How do we set about booking Taxi's for our Wedding?

  1. You need to have a proper quotation. Click on Quotations and give us the information asked for or telephone us with the information on 0845 68 68 933 or 07734 490561. We will send a quotation by e-mail or give you a price over the telephone at the time of calling, we will tell you which cars are already booked on your day and you will have a fixed price for every car available or we can charge you by the hour.

  2. It is best if you are able to decide very quickly as our Taxi's do get booked all year round and then paying a deposit from £50.00 per Taxi secures the Taxi of your choice for your special day. You can use a cheque, credit card or cash. If you wish to delay making a decision, or you are going on to see Wedding cars elsewhere, you can make a booking by phone using a credit card. We do not have provisional bookings, the Taxi's are either available or definitely booked with a deposit paid. The booking deposit is not refundable or transferable in the event of cancellation.

  3. When you decide on your Taxi's and have paid your deposit  we give you a written confirmation of the booking. Subsequently you telephone us if anything changes.

  4. We require the full payment for your Wedding Taxi's at least 28 days prior to the date of your Wedding. During the week before your Wedding we will call you to confirm details and to adjust any timings that you may wish.

  5. The Taxi's appear outside the Brides house 15 minutes before the planned departure time and then complete your Wedding.

  29. How far in advance do you take bookings?

We are always able to provide fixed quotations up to three years in advance. We have a computer system for our quotations which constantly keeps up to date and is usually quite accurate. The system also does not allow us to make a mistake and double book any Taxi. If your Wedding is taking place on a Saturday or Sunday between April and October you should be dealing with the Taxi's 12 months in advance if you want plenty of choice. The later you leave it the more Taxi's will be booked. Our white Taxi's and the replica Vintage Asquith Taxi's are usually booked up to a year in advance, but we do sometimes have availability for late or last minute bookings.

  30. What happens if the car breaks down on the wedding day itself or is delayed in arriving by heavy traffic.

As this is a very emotive question we will answer this with frankness and reality.

Vehicles as we all know can break down at the most inopportune moment or can be held up in traffic congestion, a fact of life in today's modern world, and even though our drivers add an additional hour on to the normal driving time in order to reach you with time to spare, we would strongly advise that you also prepare beforehand and have a back up plan to put into action.

Our office telephone is always manned throughout the duration of any Wedding booking that we have so should any problem occur you can call us in the office and we will endeavour to sort the problem ASAP. We can also give you your Chauffeurs mobile phone number, but please remember that all contact with the driver on the day is by mobile phone and therefore subject to signal reception and the new mobile phone driving laws.

For peace of mind we would advise you to nominate a friend or neighbour or guest attending your wedding to be your rescue car in the event of a last minute problem, to be prepared to collect the Bride at short notice. They will need to be contactable by mobile phone and have it switched on until they know the Bride has arrived safely at the church. The object is to get the Bride to the Church in as little delay as possible, even a local taxi company may not be able to provide a car as quickly as your nominated friend or neighbour who has been pre-notified and briefed.

For our part, on most wedding days we will probably have a spare vehicle available to cover such last minute eventualities, however this vehicle may be based some distance from where your vehicle breaks down or where your pick up address is, and therefore may take some time to reach you, so you will then need to decide whether to wait for the standby car and possibly arrive at the Church later than scheduled or proceed to Church by your own means.

In the interim after the Bride is finally on her way the original vehicle with problems may be able to be rectified by the breakdown services or our standby car will be able to proceed to the ceremony venue so it will be waiting for the Bride and Groom's onward journey to the reception. Please do not worry, 99% of weddings go according to plan so we are confident that your wedding will proceed to the original arrangement, but a back up plan prepared beforehand hand is a sensible precaution and will also help to take some of the stress out of the situation if it does occur
